Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity, but rather it is designed to correct the persistence of fatty tissue that cannot be removed under regular dietary regimens. The technique consists essentially of the aspiration of the fat of an area determined by means of the introduction of a blunt cannula that is connected to a machine of high emptiness (aspirator). One of the important advantages of this technique is that the aspiration is being performed using a small incision that can oscillate from 2 to 8 millimeters in length, to insert the cannula. As the incision does not need to be located in the exact place of aspiration but that can be located to certain distance, it allows to hide the small scar in a little visible zone. The aspiration of the fat is made making numerous tunnels with the cannula in the pre-marked areas. It is important to be able to make a suitable liposuction so that the skin has a good elasticity so that it can adapt to the fatty tissue reduction without external signs of flaccidity. By means of the liposuction technique fat of different corporal regions can be aspirated: hips, thighs, knees, ankles, arms, abdomen, face, etc. In some occasions the technique is made altogether with other interventions like mamoplasty, abdominoplasty, etc. Section: 2 |
